What is most important when selecting a tote mixer for your application?
When deciding on a tote mixer there are several factors to consider, the most important being the viscosity, or ‘thickness’ of the liquid. Viscosity corresponds directly with the ease of mixing; as the viscosity of the product in the tote mixer increases, so will the difficulty of achieving sufficient homogeny. Low viscosity liquids (water-like substances, for example) require less horsepower and are easier to blend. For higher viscosity products, larger folding impellors are used to achieve better results. High viscosity liquids may also benefit from gear reduction and larger diameter tote mixer shafts to provide the torque required for bulk blending.
